Meet Karen
Welcome to Main Street Coaching and Consulting.
I’m Karen, Principal of Main Street Coaching and Consulting, and I’m looking forward to becoming acquainted. Here is my introduction.
The new small-town life: helping you build a robust community
It has been my great pleasure to live in small rural towns for most of my life. I don’t plan on changing that, but here’s the deal: small towns are changing, and rapidly. They may look like they did in days gone by, but their residents are totally linked-in to the world’s technological resources.
Residents are working online as well as in person, and are flipping old paradigms about workplace space, types of work, work hours, financing, and start-up methods. They have adapted to live in the places they love, where they have a close connection to family and community. Despite peoples’ adaptations, significant challenges remain to working in small towns.
I believe in making small towns safe, welcoming, livable, financially robust and regenerative. Main Street Coaching and Consulting serves that purpose by challenging the status quo with creative, home-grown methods of business development and purpose-led leadership development intimately tied to community. Coaching, consulting, educating and community building are my tools.
Meeting challenges together fuels community empowerment
I care deeply about developing leaders who can take on the challenges of our times. In 2020, during the Covid epidemic, the small Oregon town in which I lived was engulfed by a Firestorm. In a matter of hours 2500 homes were destroyed and ten thousand people were left homeless. Enveloped in toxic smoke, our town was without water, electricity, internet, and safe roads.
The challenges could have paralyzed us, but instead they evoked a community-wide display of inspired leadership which touched my soul, and fueled my inner fire to build leadership that ensures the regenerative capacity of small towns.
My coaching services build leadership and regenerative community
As a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) I model inspired leadership, integrating self-awareness, values, meaning, targeted action, and safe space for genuine dialogue.
My career has spanned the disciplines of ecology, physiology, veterinary medicine, epidemiology, pathology, neuroscience, spirituality, counseling, psychology, human development and leadership. It has gifted me with a diversity of perspectives and tools.
I coach to develop leadership capacity at the personal, team, partnership, and community level, through the skillful use of language, and the practice of emotional and somatic intelligence, using the latest findings in neurobiology and human behavior.
Over the past 11 years I have coached entrepreneurs, business and municipal leaders in: leadership development, entrepreneurship, small business development, organizational culture, partnerships, transitions, and consensus building. I support my community through active municipal leadership roles and serve on the board of a local non-profit devoted to building vital, connected community.
If my story and what inspires me inspires you, I invite you to contact me so we can explore how these services can support your business, leadership, and community aspirations.
