Business Development
In 2009 Simon Sinek published his global best seller Start with WHY, about a naturally occurring pattern, a way of thinking, acting and communicating that gives some leaders the ability to inspire those around them. These leaders always start their companies by articulating WHY they are doing what they do rather than just WHAT they do. WHY refers to a purpose, cause, or belief.
My How
Main Street Coaching and Consulting serves that WHY (cause) by challenging the status quo with creative, home-grown methods of business development and purpose-led leadership development intimately tied to community.
My Why
I believe in making small towns safe, welcoming, livable, financially robust and regenerative.
My What
Coaching, consulting, education, and community building are my tools.
What is your why?
What inspires you?
What is the belief, purpose or cause that you chose to care about?
“The things you are passionate about are not random, they are your calling.” – Fabienne Fredrickson
Your WHY will motivate you, energize you, and feed your imagination.
It grounds your commitment and your action.
“I’ll let you in on a little secret. We don’t all love our jobs every day. And doing something you have passion for doesn’t make the work part of it any easier…It just makes you less likely to quit.” – Kate Jacobs
Your WHY is the guidance system for your attention, decisions and actions.
“Effectiveness without values is a tool without a purpose.” – Edward de Bono
Your WHY makes it clear to others why your business exists.
“People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.”- Simon Sinek
Your WHY draws your clients to you.
Find your passion, and you will find your people.” – Jonathan M Storm
Leadership Development
Communication
The conscious choice and delivery of our words empower our personal and professional effectiveness. The response we receive from someone is always a direct response to the message we have sent (or not). Effective communication can build trust, inspire, motivate, influence attitudes and behavior, convey vision and goals, set expectations, unify, resolve conflicts and make tough times tolerable.
Strengthen your skills and practice impactful communication.
Body Intelligence (Somatics)
Inspired leadership involves leadership presence. When we connect to and honor the intelligence of our physical body we can build that presence. How we show up physically for life is influenced by our past. It affects our perceptions of the world, our physiology, and our ability to connect with others. When we choose to embody new physical practices, we improve our leadership, health, and personal life.
Build your leadership presence.
Emotional Intelligence
The emotional part of the brain powerfully influences our decision-making and action-taking. The capacity to understand and manage our emotions thus facilitates effectively managing the emotions of others. When we are calm and composed, we can communicate clearly, build trust and a sense of safety, engage in conflict resolution, and make more thoughtful, strategic decisions. Practicing emotional agility and widening your emotional comfort zones increases your capacity for inspired leadership in times of change.
Build your emotional intelligence, agility, and comfort zones.
